Scissors and forceps maintenance

Storage, maintenance advice, sharpening

Scissors and forceps from the Dumont Professional range are high-precision instruments and should be used and maintained with care. Incorrect use or handling can result in scissors and forceps being damaged. The following points should be observed:

1. Protect your tools

Caps are an effective way of protecting the tips of tweezers. It is particularly important to avoid dropping fragile instruments as their tips are delicate and may bend or break. We recommend that they are cleaned after every use and stored in a clean, safe place. All instruments should be kept out of the reach of children. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility in the event that instruments are not used in accordance with our recommendations.

2. Scissors maintenance

We recommend that you pour a little oil between the two scissor blades (inner side of the cutting edge). This will ensure that the scissors continue to cut easily and evenly.

3. Repairs should only be carried out by a Dumont specialist

The various products in the Dumont Professional range can be sharpened by a specialist from our company. Please contact our after-sales department for more information on repairing tips or sharpening scissors.

Scissors and forceps that have been repaired by a Dumont specialist will work as though they were brand new.

4. Cleaning

Any residues on the tips of tweezers should be removed with alcohol. Forceps that are made from 100% satin-finished stainless steel can be sterilised at any time. We advise against sterilising forceps with polymer tips, coloured forceps and heart-shaped forceps.
